Geossites Route

The Geosites Route is a unique way to experience tourism, science, and culture within the Arouca Geopark. Carefully designed to showcase the geological richness of this UNESCO Global Geopark, the route takes you on a fascinating journey through the history of our planet – revealed in rocks, fossils, minerals, soils, and awe-inspiring landscapes.

This experience invites you to explore 31 official geosites, distributed across three themed itineraries:

• Route A – Freita: The Enchanted Mountain
• Route B – Through the Mines and Hidden Corners of Paiva
• Route C – Paiva: The Surprising Valley

While primarily designed to be explored by car, many sections are also perfect for walking, offering flexibility and a deeper connection to the territory.
