Lecture on cultural heritage protection on the Archaeology Seminar at the Petnica Science Center

During a lecture on cultural heritage protection for Level 2 participants of the Archaeology Seminar at the Petnica Science Center, Dr. Marija Marić spoke about contemporary approaches to preserving archaeological heritage and the importance of cooperation among experts, institutions, and local communities.

The INHERIT project was presented as an example of good practice, demonstrating how the community — in this case, especially hikers — can actively contribute to the preservation, understanding, and promotion of archaeological heritage in collaboration with heritage protection institutions. It was particularly emphasized that cultural heritage is not only a matter of professional care, but also an important part of the identity, knowledge, and responsibility of the community in which it exists.

Through discussion with young researchers in Petnica, important questions were raised about how we protect heritage today, to whom we transmit it, and how we build our relationship with the past in contemporary society.
