Upper Sava Valey

The Upper Sava Valley, one of Slovenia’s most stunning alpine regions, blends rich traditions with modern adrenaline sports in the country’s northwest.

The Gornjesavski Museum Jesenice, located in the renowned ironworking town of Jesenice, unites five museums to showcase the heritage of the Upper Sava Valley. One of them is the Slovenian Alpine Museum, located in Mojstrana, which recently joined the Mountaineering Villages initiative, promoting environmentally friendly tourism and other enterprises that support sustainable development.

Mojstrana, a historic mountaineering hub, sits at the gateway to Triglav National Park, where three alpine valleys lead into the Julian Alps. Krma offers the easiest route to Triglav, Kot captivates with its silence, and Vrata stuns with Peričnik Waterfall and the mighty Triglav North Face. Mojstrana has long been related to mountaineering.
