Museumsverein Klostertal
The Klostertal Museum is in Wald am Arlberg and is housed in the former “Thöny-Hof” in Außerwald, on a property dating back to the 17th century.
This property began to be transformed into a museum in the 1980s, and the Klostertal Museum opened in June 1994. This museum was designed to be “of a slightly different kind” and should stand out from all the “Heimattümelnden”. Four priorities were defined, which correspond to the real history of the valley: rural life and work; history, social history and artistic personalities; history of traffic, railways, postal services and tourism; temporary exhibitions. The aim is to introduce visitors – locals or guests – to the history of the Klostertal and the people who lived here, but without giving the impression of a “good old time”.
